Summary
A review of the silvics and utilization of one hundred Brazilian forest tree species is presented. The basic information was obtained from selected papers and produced by field trials. This document also incorporates the professional experience of the author. The species were grouped according to the degree of available silvicultural information, limiting factors, and potential uses, as follows: species with potential for timber production; species with outstanding potential for timber production; species for timber production but with few silvicultural information; species for timber production with problems in respect to artificial regeneration; species recommended for fuelwood and energy production; and species recommended for environmental purposes. The silvicultural information by species includes the following issues:
